The Broadneck Baseball and
Softball Club is comprised of the families of more than 900 children playing organized youth baseball and softball on the
Broadneck Peninsula. We are affiliated with the Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth organizations in baseball and
with the Pony organization in softball.
Our BBSC baseball program consists of three tiers: recreational-level baseball
for players age 4-18, provided by strong, local, community-based teams; tournament teams for players from ages 8-14,
drawn from the pool of our recreational players; and finally full-time travel teams, called Select Teams, that play outside
of our recreation league against other travel teams in the area. We also offer a range of other special
events, including a Pitch, Hit and Run competition, annual home-run derby and all star games drawn from our pool of recreation
players.
In
softball, we are pleased to announce that in the fall of 2009 the Cape St. Claire softball program merged with the BBSC softball
program to create one unified program representing the Broadneck Peninsula. This merger is among the last steps
in combining into one organization baseball and softball programs that were once spread among three separate groups. The combined
softball program will provide an opportunity for every girl age 6 – 19 to participate on a team. The new
softball program will continue many of the traditions that families have enjoyed, such as the home-run derby for all girls
and the annual end-of-season “Under-The-Lights” party and game for the 8U teams. We look forward to
working together to build an outstanding softball program of which our girls and community can be proud.
Our goal at BBSC is to provide an opportunity
for Broadneck-area children of all levels of ability and interest to play softball and baseball in a safe environment, emphasizing
sportsmanship and fair play. Most importantly, we simply want to make softball and baseball a fun and memorable experience
for all.
